Chico Colvard

Chico Colvard (Director/Producer/Editor) Chico Colvard received his J.D. from Boston College Law School. He now teaches Cinema Studies at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. He founded and curated the UMB Film Series. His feature doc, FAMILY AFFAIR, premiered in competition at Sundance and was the first film acquired by Oprah Winfrey for her cable channel, OWN. The film has since screened at several festivals, streamed on Netflix, iTunes and other online outlets and aired on TV stations around the world. He is a current and former Sundance Fellow, WGBH Filmmaker-in-Residence, Firelight Media Fellow, and Flaherty Fellow. Chico has received funding from the Ford Foundation, Impact Partners, LEF, Paul Robeson Fund, Vital Projects Fund, HBO and ITVS. Chico is a frequent guest speaker, moderator, festival panelist and juror.
