 Welcome to the RIFF! The Rome International Film Festival’s sixth season is truly an exciting one! This year’s festival returns to our Broad Street home: the historic and lovingly restored DeSoto Theatre. We also will return to yet another fabled venue: Heritage Hall on East Third Avenue in the Between the Rivers downtown district. The RIFF is so fortunate to have such delightful locations for the viewing of great independent cinema.
This year Rome, Georgia’s legendary southern hospitality welcomes independent film from The United States and fifteen other countries. Talented filmmakers from Indonesia, Haiti, Canada, The United Kingdom, Norway, Ireland, Kosovo, New Zealand, Australia, Albania, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland are being showcased at RIFF 2009.
Independent filmmakers are a passionate lot. This year film subjects range from the civil rights struggles of the last fifty years to human spirituality and much, much more. The Adjudication Board of the Rome International Film Festival has done a wonderful job in selecting the best of the best from hundreds of entries.
We offer thanks to our tremendous board, our dedicated staff, and the enthusiastic volunteers who make RIFF the incredible success that it is.
For one weekend in September, the independent film world truly comes to Rome, Georgia. Welcome old and new friends, and share the excitement that is The Rome International Film Festival!
