Multi-talented filmmaker Avi Weider can't be stopped! In addition to developing his award winning screenplay ZEROS AND ONES (finalist of the 2007 ATL Fest Screenplay Competition; recipient of The Hamptons Film Festival Writers’ Lab; winner of both the Emerging Narratives Screenplay Award and a Panasonic Digital Filmmaking Grand Prize at last year’s IFP MARKET) Avi is also in the throes of directing WELCOME TO THE MACHINE, a feature length doc about artificial intellengence and what it means to be human in a world of accelerating technology. 
I got this email from Avi the other day.
"I am pleased to announce that I have been selected to receive a Jerome Foundation grant to help complete my feature documentary film, WELCOME TO THE MACHINE. This competitive grant will go primarily towards funding the remainder of shooting as well as the start of the editing and post-production phases of production.
It goes without saying that I am very happy and encouraged by this development. I am looking forward to completing this film in 2009, and while more funding is sought, this grant certainly aids my endeavor to bring this human film about technology to the screen.
About the Jerome Foundation:
The Jerome Foundation, created by artist and philanthropist Jerome Hill (1905-1972), makes grants to support the creation and production of new artistic works by emerging artists living in Minnesota and New York City. The Jerome Foundation operates a grant program for individual media artists who reside within the five boroughs of New York City. This program serves film and video artists who work in the genres of experimental, narrative, animation and documentary production. This program awards production grants to emerging artists who make creative use of their respective media. The Foundation supports artists whose work shows promise of excellence. These artists will most often be in the early stages of their careers and will not have had the support needed to achieve major recognition for their work."
