Last year Out On Film marked it's twentieth year as Atlanta's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Film Festival. Originally a partnership between IMAGE Film & Video Center and Southeastern Arts, Media & Education Project (SAME), Out On Film has brought countless films by and for the LGBT community to Atlanta. The Atlanta Film Festival has also shown is share of LGBT films as well in recognition that these films are not simply niche offerings, but films that appeal to an increasingly wider "mainstream" audience. This year in partnership with Turner Broadcasting and the TurnOut employee group, the Atlanta Film Festival celebrates that history with this special Pink Peach Spotlight Section.
The films come from around the glob (Argentina, Germany/Turkey, Italy, United Kingdom/South Africa, United States and Atlanta) and offer some of the best in filmmaking. Two of them (Edge of Heaven and XXY) were award-winners of the Cannes Film Festival and their country's official submission to the Academy Awards ®. There are documentaries and narratives and features and short films, including the Audience Award-winning short from the 2007 Out On Film: Dandelion Fall. In addition to the films, there is an Out On Film panel and pre and post screening receptions. The films spotlighted in the Out on Film Section will also be eligble for the inaugural Pink Peach Award, presented by Turner.
