FAQ

My film was finished before January 1, 2008, will you still accept it? In most cases the answer will be yes. However, be sure to contact Dan Krovich at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for specifics.

Do you accept international films?
Yes.

Do you accept rough cuts? Yes we do. Before submitting a rough cut, contact Dan Krovich at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to describe how much work is left to be done and when the work will be completed.

Do you require premiere status? No. Our stance is that films are meant to be seen by the widest audience possible and requiring premiere status does more harm than good, especially for independent films. We do ask that if a film has screened in Atlanta prior to the festival that it hasn't been a major screening or has had any major advertising. Films that are currently for sale online or in stores may be ineligible. Films that are being sold on-site after screenings may be eligible for submission. If you're submitting to another festival that does require premiere status, have had a screening in Atlanta, or have started to sell your film, and have questions contact Dan Krovich at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Do you grant waviers? We understand how draining producing a film can be on resources, especially when it comes to submitting to film festivals. While we'd love to grant waivers to filmmakers, submission fees are vital to supporting the festival itself. Entering, tracking and managing nearly 2000 films from submission through judging, takes several hundred man hours. We hope you understand.

Are the deadlines postmark deadlines? Yes, they are.

TEEN SCREEN

We are now taking entries to be considered for next year’s 2009 TEEN SCREEN! Program. Our Teen Screen! Programs are screened as part of our annual Atlanta Film Festival (April 16-25, 2009) to spotlight primarily shorts made by teens for teens. Film entries must be made by teens ages 18 years and younger to be considered for our 2009 Teen Screen! Program.

This year we are partnering with KidsFirst! Coalition For Quality Children’s Media, in our screening process. KidsFirst! is a non-profit program that evaluates, rates and endorses children's short and feature films using volunteer, community-based juries comprising child development professionals, teachers as well as parents and children from diverse geographic, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. A KIDS FIRST! endorsement is given to film titles that meet the KIDS FIRST! baseline criteria and are approved by both adult and child jurors.

Partnering with KidsFirst! is a wonderful additional benefit to our teen filmmakers who enter their films for consideration of our 2009 Teen Screen! Program because, if endorsed by KidsFirst!, your film is eligible for additional screening opportunities and possibilities throughout the nation! KidsFirst! will additionally publish reviews of their endorsed or recommended films on the KIDS FIRST! web site, in the KIDS FIRST! e-zine, and in reviews provided to publications such as Grand Magazine, Working Mother, United Parenting Publication's 13 regional publications, TiVo's KidZone and the Smart Television Alliance.

To enter your film entry to be considered for our 2009 Teen Screen! Program during next year’s Atlanta Film Festival, please download the KidsFirst! endorsement application and Read and Fill Out Completely as directed to be considered. Through this new screening process, you must provide multiple DVD copies of your film, but entering is still FREE if you are entering with this official form only downloadable through the Atlanta Film Festival site. For additional information or questions about our 2009 Teen Screen! Program, email Elizabeth Ingram or call 404-352-4225.
