"I Believe in Unicorns" Filmmaker Leah Meyerhoff highlights her picks from the ATLFF lineup
Looking forward to the bounty of films available to watch at ATLFF? Send us a list of the films you're most looking forward to at the fest (besides yours!) along with the reasons why.
I am looking forward to seeing as many films as possible during the Atlanta Film Festival.
I am particularly excited about OBVIOUS CHILD as I thought Gillian's previous short film (of the same name) was hilarious, and we are members of Film Fatales—a female filmmaker collective in New York, along with Madeleine Olnek, director of THE FOXY MERKINS and Laura Checkoway, who made the stunning documentary LUCKY.
I have not met Juli Jackson yet, but her film 45RPM looks intriguing and I have heard wonderful things about Katrin Gebbe's NOTHING BAD CAN HAPPEN.
I loved SUBMARINE and am equally excited to see Richard Ayode's THE DOUBLE.
I watched a rough cut of Tommy Oliver's 1982 when we both participated in the Champs Elysees Film Festival's US in Progress program and am eager to see how the finished film turned out.
I always love Bill Plympton and David Gordon Green's work so CHEATIN' and JOE are definitely high on the list.
Ti West is an old friend and filmmaker genius and so I cannot wait to see THE SACRAMENT.
As for the short's program, Frances Bodomo's AFRONAUTS, Moon Molson's THE BRAVEST THE BOLDEST, Clay Liford's SLASH and Eliza McNitt's WITHOUT FIRE all caught my eye and I look forward to discovering new andexciting work. It looks like a fantastic lineup!
Previous work of mine is available here.
And social media content from the film is here.
I Believe in Unicorns plays Saturday, April 5 at 2:15 PM at The Plaza Theatre.
