Out On Film kicks off an 8-day celebration this Thursday!

The city is about to get very colorful, and not only because it is fall. Atlanta Pride festivities kick off this month with parades, festivals, and events galore to celebrate. But the most exciting event for us here at the Atlanta Film Festival will be Out On Film, Atlanta’s annual LGBT film festival. Going on their 27th year, Out On Film offers a wonderfully diverse program filled with features, shorts, documentaries, music videos, animation, and experimental films made by local and international filmmakers.

Out On Film will be kicking off their festival this Thursday, October 2nd at Landmark Midtown Art Cinema. The opening night film, “Blackbird,” features Oscar-winning actress Mo’Nique. The film will be followed by a Q&A session and after-party with cast and crew.

Last year, the festival reached its highest attendance, a goal they hope to top this year. Exciting works by Antonio Da Silva, RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Tammie Brown, and local filmmakers Julian Modugno and Eddie Ray are sure to help draw more attendees.

The Legendary Children

This year, Out On Film is especially proud to include many works made by southern filmmakers. One particular event exemplifying this accomplishment is FOR FILTH!, a unique program showcasing short films by mostly local filmmakers and followed by drag performances by the Atlanta-based drag troupe, The Legendary Children.

This is something that should not be missed. The festival will last 8 days and finish up on October 9th, preceding Atlanta Pride on October 11th.
