 This webinar is for the practical independent film producer who wants to prepare their productions for hybrid or direct distribution. The traditional all rights deal with substantial minimum guarantees from distributors is now only available for a select group of films. To ensure a film has a significant release, producers need to be proactive in setting budgets and gathering a team responsible for connecting the film to an audience and choosing the appropriate distribution path in order to achieve the goals of the production.

This hour-long webinar will cover:

-An overview of the independent film market including insight from sales agents on what is selling and what isn’t;

-Distribution options available to release a film into the market including a look at the theatrical, digital, broadcast, and educational markets and what assets the film needs in order to succeed;

-The tools currently available to ensure a significant release and how much they cost;

-Other revenue streams that could be developed as part of the film release.

Producers should walk away with a better perspective on what elements a film will need in order to have the best chance of successful distribution.

This webinar is being presented by Sheri Candler, Director of Digital Marketing Strategy for The Film Collaborative. Launched in early 2010, The Film Collaborative is a non profit organization offering independent filmmakers a full range of education about distribution, distribution services and marketing services including sales representation, service theatrical releases, hybrid distribution, grassroots marketing, traditional marketing, digital aggregation, distribution consultation and contract consultation. Films handled by TFC include award winning documentaries The Invisible War (2013 Oscar nominated); We Were Here; and Valentine Road; and narrative films James Franco’s Interior. Leather Bar;  Mosquito y Mari; Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer; and Weekend.
