Roll Yer Own Animation Showcase Rolls Back Around
ASIFA and The Plaza Theatre showcase local animators' short films this Monday!
ASIFA-Atlanta's 13th Annual "Roll Yer Own" Animation Showcase is back! The event will show animated shorts from local and independent animators throughout the South, as well as a few honorary east coast animators. From a humorous short about a fox and his tale to a projection piece called "Journey to Womanhood", the shorts explore themes of strength, friendship, and so much more. They give a taste of the artistic styling of the south.
ASIFA is an international animation organization that was founded in France in the 1960s. Fifthteen years ago the Atlanta chapter was formed. This chapter offers animation screening and educational programs year-round. The Atlanta Film Festival partners with ASIFA-ATL for youth animation classes, screenings, festivals, and various events such as Roll Yer Own!
Join us for the Roll Yer Own SHOWCASE on August 31st at 7:30pm at the Historic Plaza theater followed by the Q&A with the animators. The event is $5 for non-members, ASIFA members get in free.

ASIFA Highlights Bill Plympton's "Cheatin' " and Other Animated Films at 2014 ATLFF
Bill Plympton's coming to town and he's bringing his feature film Cheatin' with him. Geek out with ASIFA-Atlanta and the Atlanta Film Festival for an animation celebration.
ASIFA-Atlanta, writing on their blog:
For the seventh consecutive year, Atlanta’s International Animated Film Association (ASIFA-Atlanta) is proud to join the 2014 Atlanta Film Festival for three days of animation! Renowned animator, Bill Plympton, will be in attendance to present a Master Class along with his newest critically acclaimed feature, Cheatin,’ on Tuesday, April 1st at 7 Stages in Little Five Points. No Joke.
It does our hearts good to see an entire organization of people geeking out about the way their preferred art form is represented at our event. If you know anything about the evolution of animation over the past few decades, you know that Plympton's visit is no small thing. He's a heavy-hitter, and we're thrilled to have him in town for the fest.
