On Saturday, October 17th, frequent ATLFF collaborator and long-time Atlanta producer Linda Burns will teach two classes guaranteed to help you kick-start your film career. We are joining forces with Georgia Production Partnership to offer these courses—Intro to the Film Business from 9:00AM to 12:00PM and Creating a Proper Film Resume from 12:30PM to 2:30PM.
If you are curious about all of the basics of a film set—duties, roles, language, timelines, etc.—then Intro to the Film Business is perfect for you! Get equipped for your first day on the job. Serious about entering into the PA field or any other line of work in the film industry? You'll need a great resume! Linda Burns is known for her resume expertise and she is willing to sit down for a couple of hours and teach you everything she knows—including how to translate your real world work experience into related film experience.

Given the recent boom of the Georgia entertainment industry, Ms. Powell will be discussing the basic how-to's for handling SAG-AFTRA contracts in order to work with union actors and non-union actors on the same production. Ms. Powell has experience in the entertainment industry producing and working as an actor under SAG-AFTRA contracts.
Laura obtained her Bachelor of Science from The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and her Juris Master from Emory University School of Law. Laura begins her second year of law school at Vanderbilt University Law School in August and plans on returning to Atlanta after graduation.

CLASS SYNOPSIS
This course is designed for the individual considering the locations department as their entry into the film production industry. The course will detail the duties and responsibilities of the locations department and staff from the manager to the production assistant. It will also help you determine if you have the correct skill set, work ethic, and personality to be successful as a freelancer in locations.
Attendees should bring a notebook, as well as a pen or pencil, to the class and will be required to turn off their cell phones for the duration.

Back by popular demand, Linda Burns' PA Academy is open for registration! This extremely in-demand workshop takes place November 15-16 from 8AM - 8PM at Production Consultants & Equipment (PC&E). Lunches will be provided by Fresh World Cuisine and Epting Events.
This two day, bootcamp-style Production Assistant workshop is perfect for those just starting their career as a PA as well as those looking to advance their knowledge of what it takes to succeed as an office or on set production assistant working on commercials, industrials, music videos, independent films, television series and studio features.
Training includes but is not limited to:
- Production terminology and paperwork
- Film crew titles and job descriptions
- Set etiquette - Dos and Don'ts
- How a typical day proceeds
- Locking up the set
- Setting background
- Walkie protocol, terminology and sign out (Walkies provided by Set Supplies)
We discuss must have PA gear and kits, and provide hands-on equipment training, resume tips and where to find experience as well as paid work. Learn how successful office and set PAs as well as DGA assistant directors got into the business, what they look for when they hire PAs, their tips for success, and how to avoid their pet peeves. This bootcamp simulates a typical day on set to prepare new PAs for their first job, and more experienced PAs the knowledge and training they need to up their skills and compete in the fast paced and growing Georgia film industry.

Acclaimed screenwriter and ATLFF '14 Creative Conference panelist Michael Lucker is hosting a session of his renowned Screenwriter School on May 24th and 25th.
This year's festival-goers may remember Michael Lucker as host of the script readings from the screenwriting competition and as part of the Creative Conference panel "How to Structure Your Screenplay," which touched on the fundamentals of basic screenplay structure. A one-time assistant to Steven Spielberg, Lucker has written more than twenty feature screenplays for studios such as Paramount, Disney, DreamWorks, Fox, and Universal (including "Vampire in Brooklyn," "Home on the Range," and the Academy Award-nominated "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron"). He is offering a unique opportunity to share his expertise with local writers by hosting a session of his renowned Screenwriter School on May 24th and 25th.
Over the course of two seven-hour days, aspiring writers will be guided from the germ of an idea to the final pitch, learning everything they need to know about crafting a successful screenplay.

This two day Production Assistant bootcamp-style workshop is perfect for those just starting their career as a PA as well as those looking to advance their knowledge of what it takes to succeed as an office or on set production assistant working on commercials, industrials, music videos, independent films, television series and studio features. Training includes but is not limited to production terminology and paperwork, film crew titles and job descriptions, set etiquette - do's and don'ts, how a typical day proceeds, locking up the set, setting background, and walkie protocol, terminology and sign out. We discuss must have PA gear and kits, and provide hands-on equipment training, resume tips and where to find experience as well as paid work. Learn how successful office and set PAs as well as assistant directors got into the business, what they look for when they hire PAs, their tips for success, and what their pet peeves are. This bootcamp tries to simulate a typical day on set to prepare new PAs for their first job, and more experienced PAs the knowledge and training they need to up their skills and compete in the fast paced and growing Georgia film industry.

Working in Locations - An Overview
This course is designed for the individual considering the locations department as their entry into the film production industry. The course will detail the duties and responsibilities of the locations department and staff from the manager to the production assistant. It will also help you determine if you have the correct skill set, work ethic and personality to be successful as a freelancer in locations. Attendees should bring a notebook, pen or pencil to the class and will be required to turn off their cell phones during the duration of the course.
