The annual BronzeLens Film Festival of Atlanta will celebrate its 5th anniversary October 22-26 as a fast-growing non-profit organization committed to showcasing and promoting films by and for people of color.
The festival was founded in 2009 with the intent of celebrating the rich cultural diversity that has become iconic of the Atlanta arts scene and furthering the tradition of the city as a hub for multicultural filmmakers. Particularly in light of the recent boom in Georgia’s film industry, BronzeLens seeks to provide an educational forum and unique networking opportunities for underrepresented minorities seeking employment with production companies.
This year, BET Networks will expand upon its existing partnership with BronzeLens to include a first-time sponsorship of All Shorts All Day, a full day of screenings of the official 2014 BronzeLens short films selections, scheduled to take place Thursday, October 23 at the Georgia Pacific Auditorium. A panel of BET Networks judges collaborated to choose this year’s official selections, and the winner of the Best Short category will be announced at the BronzeLens Awards where BET will present a $5000 cash prize award.
This year’s exciting schedule will include a lineup of national and international film screenings, workshops, panel discussions, and its signature Women Superstars Luncheon on October 24.
Be sure to check out the 2014 BronzeLens Film Festival on October 22-26! You can purchase tickets to the festival and other BronzeLens events here.

Coming back for its third year, the Georgia Latino Film Festival continues to showcase Latino talent in Georgia while educating and empowering the next generation of Latino storytellers. This year’s festival will take place in the heart of bustling Downtown Atlanta at the Georgia Pacific Conference Center on Peachtree Street and at Plaza Fiesta in Northeast Atlanta on Buford Highway.
Founded by Jose Marquez, the CEO of Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology, and Lance Robertson, CEO of the Black Latino Council, the festival was launched during Hispanic Heritage Month in 2012 and seeks to build awareness of both independent film and film as an art form. The festival generates educational opportunities for students and Georgia Latino filmmakers, all while creating opportunities for the community to experience high-quality Latino films.
The continuing success and expansion of the festival is evident. This year, submissions for the festival have come not only from all over the United States, but also from Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. A hugely diverse background of attendees is also expected.
Beginning this Friday, October 17th, and spanning over the course of the weekend, the Georgia Latino Film Festival presents its attendees with the chance to participate in a multitude of events from film screenings and Q&A sessions with filmmakers to workshops and exclusive parities. The activities will kickoff with a special red carpet event featuring influential figures in journalism, blogging, marketing, technology, entertainment, networking and music.
Also included in the lineup will be special musical performances by Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Seich and Tito Puente Jr. with his Orchestra. Appearances from other A-list actors and actress are anticipated as well, so this event is definitely one to attend and look out for in the coming years. For the 2012 addition I had the pleasure of serving on the jury. Game, a twisted and hilarious subversion of the damsel in distress trope, was a short I loved so much, it screened at the 2013 Atlanta Film Festival.
That should be enough to convince you, now I can say GO!
