ATLFF Teaming up with HBO for Game of Thrones Season 5 Premiere at The Fox Theatre

For the third year, HBO will partner with ATLFF to provide attendees with a sneak preview of “Game of Thrones.” This year, we are going bigger than ever and hosting it at The Fabulous Fox Theatre!

For the third year, Home Box Office (HBO) will partner with the 39th Annual Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF) and the Fabulous Fox Theatre to provide attendees with a sneak preview of “Game of Thrones.” Based on the popular book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” by George R.R. Martin, this hit Emmy®-winning fantasy series chronicles an epic struggle for power in a vast and violent fantasy kingdom.

Festival attendees are invited to see the first episode from the hit show’s upcoming fifth season two weeks before it airs on HBO, and is available on Xfinity and HBO Go on Sunday, April 12. The screening will close out the 10-day festival and take place on Sunday, March 29 at The Fox Theatre at 7:30pm. With over 4,600 seats at the historic Fox Theatre, this will be one of the largest premiere events in ATLFF history.

This event is free and open to the public but Atlanta Film Festival members and passholders will have the first opportunity to RSVP to attend. RSVP line will be open to members on Saturday, February 28 at 10:00am and to the general public on Wednesday, March 4 at 10:00am.

Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best “Game of Thrones” attire to compete for prizes in the Westeros costume contest. The event will include other giveaways and special surprises inspired by the show. In addition to the screening, select festival goers will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with fellow “Game of Thrones” fans at an exclusive post-screening VIP after-party at the Fox Theatre’s Egyptian Ballroom. Spaces for the after-party are limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Fans will have a chance to brush up on where Season 4 left off by going to the Season 4 Marathon taking place at The Plaza Theatre the week leading up to the Season 5 Premiere. Two episodes will play each day for free Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27 at 3:00pm and 4:00pm each day.

“Every year the Atlanta Film Festival is made possible because of the collective efforts of so many groups in our community – from festival members that continue to support the festival, to sponsorships from organizations like HBO and The Fox Theatre. We are thrilled to once again be partnering with HBO to bring a season premiere screening of ‘Game of Thrones’ to Atlanta and to do so at the legendary Fox Theatre,” said ATLFF Executive Director, Christopher Escobar.
